Blue
Sox Tie Series 1-1, Arrington Dazzles in Game 2
Elkton veteran right-hander Mark Arrington pitched a complete game
four hit shutout against the Montezuma Braves on Thursday night to help
force a decisive game 3 at Montezuma Friday night. The Blue Sox also played stellar
defense behind Arrington which was a drastic improvement from the series
opener where the Blue Sox committed 3 errors. It was Arrington’s fourth
straight complete game effort in the playoffs dating back to last season.
Terlesky fires No-Hitter, Blue Sox Advance
to Semis
Blue Sox rookie left-hander John Terlesky
fired a no-hitter on Friday night as Elkton advanced to the semifinals of
the RCBL playoffs with an 8-0 win over Montezuma. Terlesky
struck out 14 batters en route to his 3rd complete game and 2nd shutout
this season. It was the Blue
Sox second straight shutout and Blue Sox pitchers have now combined to
toss 20 straight scoreless innings.
Bryan Lescanec
led the charge for the Blue Sox offensively. In the first inning, Lescanec plated the first run of the game with an RBI
single to leftfield. In the
fourth inning, Lescanec walked and later scored
on an RBI single by Chad Byers. But the big blow came in the 5th
inning when Lescanec connected for a 3-run home
run to put the Blue Sox up by a score of 5-0. Lescanec
finished with 2 hits, 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and also helped preserve the
no-hitter in the top of the 8th inning with a tremendous diving catch in rightfield.
The Blue Sox played possibly their best game of the season under
the direction of interim manager Nathan Thomas, who is filling in for Sam LeBeau until
he returns from the Dominican Republic.
Blue
Sox Drop Semifinal Opener at Stuarts Draft
The Blue Sox lost the opener of the RCBL Semifinal
match up with Stuarts Draft Sunday evening by a score of 9-0. Ryan Cooper and Donovan Huffer combined to limit the Blue Sox to only two
hits. The Blue Sox will host
Game 2 at Stonewall Memorial
Park in Elkton on Monday night. Game 3 will return to Stuarts
Draft on Wednesday night.
Game 4, if necessary, would be in Elkton on Thursday night. The decisive Game 5 would be
played in Stuarts Draft on Saturday night, if needed.
Dbacks Nip Blue Sox in Game 2
The Blue Sox lost a tightly contested Game 2 on Monday
night by a score of 7-6 at Stonewall
Memorial Park. Recent
Spotswood High School
graduates Zach Wade and Wes Breeden kept the Blue Sox in the
game, but the Blue Sox could not overcome several errors and base running
mistakes against the talented Dbacks. Tyler Wagner led the charge offensively with
two hits including a HR and 2 RBIs.
Game 3 will return to Stuarts Draft on Wednesday night. The likely starter is 2010 RCBL Co-Rookie
of the Year John Terlesky. Terlesky
is coming of a no-hitter last Friday and should be available on five days
rest. The Blue Sox, who have
already won two games when facing elimination, must win on Wednesday
night to force Game 4 in Elkton on Thursday night. The decisive Game 5 would be
played in Stuarts Draft on Saturday night, if needed.
